Webinaire : Communautés forestières sous le feu - violence et intimidation dans les chaînes d'approvisionne-ment en huile de palme et soja

Le secteur de l'agroalimentaire a connu une augmentation de 60 % des assassinats de défenseurs des droits de l'homme (DDH) au cours de l'année dernière, la plupart d'entre eux étant des autochtones.

 

Ce webinaire (en anglais et en espagnol uniquement) est l'occasion pour les communautés forestières d'Indonésie, de Colombie, du Paraguay et du Pérou de partager leurs luttes avec un public mondial. Les militants, les organisations de la société civile et les autres parties intéressées sont invités à entendre les défenseurs des droits de l'homme parler de la situation sur le terrain des communautés touchées par la production industrielle d'huile de palme et de soja. Ce sera un espace d'apprentissage mutuel sur les stratégies nécessaires pour faire face aux menaces collectives qui pèsent sur les défenseurs.

The Zero Tolerance Initiative (ZTI) and the Universal Rights Group (URG), with the support of ALLIED, have developed two important digital tools, which will be launched at this event:

 

The Phonebook, a directory of support organisations for defenders of the environment, land, territory and the human rights that depend upon these.

The Microsite for Collective Protection Resources, a library of over 100 reports, videos, guides, and training materials on best practices to effectively protect land and environmental defenders, their communities, and lands.

Webinar: Forest communities under fire - violence and intimidation in palm oil & soya supply chains

The agribusiness sector has seen a 60% increase in killings of Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) in the last year, most of them indigenous peoples.

This webinar is an opportunity for forest communities from Indonesia, Colombia, Paraguay and Peru to share their struggles with a global audience. Activists, civil society organisations and other interested parties are invited to hear from HRDs about the situation on the ground for communities affected by industrial-scale palm oil and soya production. This will be a space for mutual learning on strategies needed to address collective threats to defenders.

Webinar: Voices from the Ground - Human rights defenders detail how respect for their lands and lives is necessary for a successful UNGP implementation

Join us to hear from indigenous and local community leaders from Kenya, Russia, Bangladesh and Peru, who will share their key demands for land rights to be recognised as a climate solution.

 

The event will reflect on how demands from COP26 should be taken into account in relation to implementation of the UNGPs and will explore the underlying drivers of violence against human rights defenders focusing on recognising collective land rights as one critical solution.

Mobilisation mondiale pour mettre fin à la criminalisation des défenseurs des droits à la terre

Du lundi 2 au lundi 9 décembre 2019

Au cours de la mobilisation mondiale, des organisations et des particuliers du monde entier demanderont la fin de la criminalisation des défenseurs des droits à la terre. Nous demanderons aux gouvernements de protéger les peuples autochtones et les communautés locales qui défendent leurs terres, leurs forêts et leurs eaux et d'agir pour que leurs droits fonciers soient reconnus.
